Timothy (Phleum pratense)
Dubingiai. Variety was created at the Agricultural Institute of the Lithuanian Agriculture and Forestry Research Centre. Value for cultivation and use (VCU) was tested in 2011 – 2012 at the Plant variety testing stations of Lithuania. Variety testing for uniformity, distinctness and stability (DUS) was accomplished in Poland and 2013 variety was registered and listed to the National list of Plant varieties.
It is a medium – late variety: the beginning of inflorescence emergence of plants – early June, maturity of seeds – the middle of August. The plants are of medium height. According to data from the Plant testing stations of Lithuania, the height of the plants at the beginning of inflorescence emergence (before the first harvest) reaches 80.7 cm. During the testing years the plants of the variety Dubingiai produced 9.09 t/ha dry matter and 0.146 t/ha seed yield.
The protein content at the beginning of the inflorescence emergence – 11.3 %, fibre – 28.7 %, digestibility – 53.3 % of the dry matter. Leaves compose up to 47,0 %. The variety Dubingiai are resistant to lodging (9 points). The variety is suitable for making seed mixtures intended for sowing meadows and pastures, as well as for field rotation with red clover.
